Stories and voices from Europe to Central Asia
30 years of diplomatic relations
Sept—Dec
2022

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Croatia, Moldova, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan: for 30 years these 13 countries have had diplomatic relations with Germany – with partnerships enabling encounters at eye level and successful cultural exchange, two essential aspects of binational cultural policy.

The cultural programme 13 Horizons celebrates the joint achievements and the perspectives they open for the future.

Especially during difficult times, such platforms are required, creating opportunities for personal meetings and understanding. Sustainable exchange is only possible when respectfully observing shared characteristics and differences, gazing into the future together – into a global future which cannot be shaped by any one entity alone.

What has changed over the past 30 years? Through dialogue between civil societies, from Europe to Central Asia we trace the image of a multi-faceted modernism rooted in centuries of tradition. The stories and voices that tell them can be encountered on screen, in concerts and with an adventurous palate.

Join us for inspiring insights and new perspectives – at 13 Horizons!
