The film is about a remote village in a picturesque gorge: the villagers sell what they can on the street-side bazar; whenever possible, they work the land. In an old house, a family lives without noticing the passing of time: the older woman Agir, cast out because of supposed infertility, the smart-aleck boy Nazaros and his mother Zulali, who has lost her mind. In three parts, each told from the perspective of one of these heroes, the drama recounts the changeful stories of family life. It consists of a mosaic of tragic fates, but also contains moments of comedy and fairy-tales. Thus, Zulali reveals the entire breadth of human feelings and relationships.
